It has been an exciting time at the Friends of Down Syndrome and the Down Syndrome Academy. Since opening in 2014, Academy enrollment has grown more than 300%—now supported by 20 teachers and aids. And we have a growing waitlist. In the Houston area, there are an estimated 6,500 individuals with Down syndrome. To support the rigorous combination of programs and services we offer, Friends of Down Syndrome plans to open a new campus. It is our dream to build a facility that will support over 220 students and offer additional curriculum and needed help for student families.

To meet this need, it will take a tremendous amount effort and financial support from a much broader family of supporters. As such, we are kicking off Realizing the Dream, a $2.6 million campaign to acquire a permanent home for the Down Syndrome Academy.

How can you help?

We invite you to buy a commemorative brick. It can be for you, a loved one, or your company to honor a special event or milestone. By purchasing a brick, which will be displayed outside of the new building, you are securing the future of the Down Syndrome Academy. Additionally, you are helping to demonstrate the strength of the Houston philanthropic community and its unending goal of supporting those in need.

Your support will be a tremendous investment in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. Your commitment lays the foundation for a better community for us all. We hope you will consider this unique and lasting gift. You may place your order using this form.

With warmest regards,
